As strong believers in the fashion magic that is thrifting, our directors showcase some of their favorite thrifted pieces for our weekly Thrifted Thursday segment, and prove that you don't need fast fashion to express your personal style.

As fashion weeks around the globe are coming to an end, we want to prove that buying fast fashion isn't necessary to follow trends - and that you don't need to follow trends at all to be stylish. Enjoy some fresh looks based around thrifted pieces that haven't contributed to fast fashion's strain on the environment.

Our Finance Director Sophia (above) got this jacket (one of her all time favorites) from ebay, which along with sites like Poshmark and Depop is a great place to find thrifted clothes online.

Below, our Social Director Zoe shows off a cardigan she bought on Depop along with a dress from The Real Real. Her bag is a hand-me-down that was handmade by her relatives who grew the cotton, made it into yarn, and dyed & wove it themselves. Hand-me-downs are another great option for sourcing clothing sustainably, not only because the clothes are from a source other than fast fashion but also because they are often more durable and will hold up for longer than fast fashion garments.

Thrifting and buying second hand, whether online, in brick and mortar stores, or through swaps and exchanges are fantastic ways to minimize the negative impact your fashion choices have on the environment. But even though these clothes are used, thrifting by no means requires you to sacrifice your fashion sense. Make sustainable fashion choices, kiddos, and go explore what the world of second-hand fashion has to offer.
